Workshop Logistics

** Workshop Schedule is Now Posted**

Who:

The Breakthrough Listen Working Group: Breakthrough Listen Initiative at Berkeley SETI Research Center, guests from the SETI Institute, other SETI researchers.

Working Groups: Invited scholars organized into Working Groups.

Workshop Structure:

Leading up to the workshop, invited scholars work together within Working Groups, organized around discipline and key research areas, to respond to this question:

“How should Breakthrough Listen and other SETI researchers prepare for potentially making contact with ET? How should they respond to a signal? What are they missing?”

Statements collaboratively produced by the working groups will be pre-circulated and shared on this website for all participants to access. They will be the spark of conversation between the Breakthrough Listen Team and the Working Groups so that BL can better incorporate other viewpoints.

Conversations between the Breakthrough Listen Working Group and invited Working Groups will be held over 45 minute sessions, with 10-15 minutes of Q&A. The Berkeley SETI Research Center will host the Breakthrough Listen Working Group for this series of conversations and Working Groups will join in virtually.

Any member of the Working Groups is welcomed to attend in person. Contact the organizers if you would like to attend in person. Bagels and coffee will be served at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be served after each session at 1:00 / 1:30 p.m. Lunch will have vegan options both days, and will be served on the 6th floor roof deck at Campbell Hall.
